Un gruppo di amici, molti dei quali si raccolgono attorno all'attività della Struttura Complessa di Medicina Preventiva delle Migrazioni del Turismo e di Dermatologia Tropicale dell'Istituto San Gallicano di Roma, condividono una certa visione del mondo e decidono di fondare un'associazione per “mettere in pratica” alcune delle idee che li accomunano.
Nasce così nel 2002, l'Istituto Internazionale di Scienze Mediche Antropologiche e Sociali (I.I.S.M.A.S.), Onlus attiva nel campo della ricerca medica e delle scienze antropologiche e sociali.
In collaborazione con l'associazione “Camminare insieme” di Torino, l'Istituto è oggi, impegnato in numerosi progetti ed interventi a favore delle popolazioni più povere dell'Africa, dell'America Latina e del Sud-Est asiatico, e promuove in Italia la prevenzione, la diagnosi e la cura delle malattie che colpiscono le fasce deboli della popolazione con particolare riguardo agli immigrati, zingari, prostitute, vittime di tortura, richiedenti asilo politico e pensionati a reddito minimo.
L'Associazione ha collaborato con l'Ong Hansenians' Ethiopian and Eritrean Welfare Organisation (H.E.W.O.) in Etiopia per la realizzazione di servizi socio-sanitari, svolti gratuitamente a favore delle persone affette da Morbo di Hansen, da malattie dermatologiche, da TBC, da AIDs.
Attualmente, con il patrocinio del Ministero della Sanità del Tigray ( Tigray's Health Bureau) e l'Istituto Scientifico San Gallicano di Roma , supporta l'attività clinica, didattica, di prevenzione e di ricerca scientifica nell'Ospedale Civile di Makallè in Etiopia. In questo ambito ha organizzato e condotto le prime tre edizioni dell' International Congress on Dermatology and Infectious Diseases , rispettivamente a Mekele, Quihà ed Axum. È nato inoltre un Centro Studi delle patologie tropicali. Già in questo momento l'Associazione è in grado di fornire alla classe medica internazionale un aggiornato e originale database fotografico di patologie su pelle nera.
Inoltre collabora con l'Ong Shukrodaya Animation Centre in India per un progetto di promozione della salute delle persone delle fasce più povere della popolazione nella città di Mysore e sostiene le attività di formazione sulla salute in una prospettiva di confronto con la tradizione olistica della medicina indiana.
L'Associazione, con l'Università di Buenos Aires, ha un programma di scambio formativo per i medici che lavorano nel settore della dermatologia internazionale.
L'Istituto promuove in collaborazione con “ Proyecto de Expediciones Medicales” in Perù un progetto di ricerca ed intervento sanitario per combattere le patologie dermatologiche che affliggono le popolazioni indigene nell'Amazzonia peruviana.
L'Istituto è aperto alla collaborazione di tutti coloro che vorranno contribuire con idee, progetti e testimonianze.

A group of friends, many of whom gather around the activities of the Department of Tropical Dermatology and Preventive Medicine for Migration at San Gallicano Institute, Rome, share a certain vision of the world and decide to found an association in order “to put into practice” some of the ideas that link them.
As a result we have in 2002 the onset of activities of the International Institute of Social, Medical and Anthropological Sciences (I.I.S.M.A.S.), an active Onlus in the field of the medical research and anthropological and social sciences.
In collaboration with the association “Camminare Insieme” of Turin, the Institute is till today involved in numerous plans for the poor populations of Africa, Latin America and South-East Asia, and it promotes in Italy the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the diseases that affect some social groups, particularly weak, of the population with particular regard to immigrates, gipsies, prostitutes, victims of torture, asylum seekers and low-income elderly, often also non self-sufficient.
The Association has collaborated with the NGO Hansenians' Ethiopian and Eritrean Welfare Organisation H.E.W.O.) in Ethiopia for the realization of social-health services, provided free of charge for the person suffering from Hansen's disease, dermatological diseases, TB, AIDS.
Currently, with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Health of Tigray (Tigray's Health Bureau) and the San Gallicano Institute of Rome, the Association supports teh clinical and didactic activity of prevention and scientific search in the Civilian Hospital of Mekele in Ethiopia. In this field, it has organized and conducted the first three editions of the International Congress on Dermatology and Infectious Diseases, at Mekele, Quihà and Axum, respectively. A Centre Studies of tropical dermatological pathologies and other transmissible tropical pathologies is already in operation. At the moment, the Association is already in a condition to supply, to the international medical class, an updated and original photographic database of tropical pathologies.
Moreover, it collaborates with NGO Shukrodaya Animation Centre in India for a plan about the promotion of the health for person of the poorest groups of the population in the city of Mysore and it supports the formation activities on the health in a perspective of comparison with holistic tradition of the Indian medicine.
It collaborates with the University of Buenos Aires in a programme of formative exchange for the doctors who work in the field of the international dermatology.
In collaboration with “ Proyecto de Expediciones Medicales”, in Perù, t he Institute promotes a research and medical activity project aimed at fighting against the dermatological pathologies affecting the native populations in Peruvian Amazonia.
The Institute is open to the collaboration of any person willing to contribute ideas, projects and experiences.

Qui nous sommes Un groupe d'amis, dont une bonne partie est liée aux activitées de la structure complexe de médecine preventive des migrations du tourisme et de dermatologie tropicale de l'institut San Gallicano di Roma partageant une certaine vision du monde ont décidé de fonder une association pour « mettre en pratique » certaines des idées qu'ils partagent.
C'est de cette facon qu'est née en 2002 l'Institut Internationale des Sciences de Médecine Anthropologiques et Sociales (I.I.S.M.A.S.). Cette association Onlus s'interesse à la recherche medicale et des Sciences Anthropologiques et Sociales.
En collaboration avec l'association Camminare insieme » de Turin, la I.I .S.M.A.S. est impliquée dans de nombreux projets et interventions en faveur des populations les plus pauvres d'Afrique, d'Amérique Latine et du Sud-Est Asiatique. En Italie elle s'occupe de promouvoir la prévention, le diagnostique et les soins contre des maladies qui touchent les couches les plus fragiles de la population, en s'intéressant tou particulièrement aux imigrés, aux gitans, aux prostituées, aux victimes de tortures, aux demandeurs d'asile politique, aux retraités avec un revenus minimum.
L'association a collaborées avec les organismes Hansenians' Ethiopian and Eritrean Welfare Organisation (H.E.W.O) en Ethiopie pour réaliser des services sociaux- sanitaires gratuits en faveur des personnes atteintes de la maladie de Hansen, des maladies de la peau, de la tuberculose et du Sida.
Actuellement avec le soutien du Ministère de la santé du Tigray (Tigray's health bureau) et l'Institut Scientifique du « San Gallicano » de Rome, l'Institut supporte l'activité clinique, didactique de prévention et de recherche scientifique auprés de l'hopital civile de Makallé en Ethiopie. C'est dans ce contexte qu'I.I.S.M.A.S. a organisé et conduit les trois premières éditions de « International Congress on Dermatology and Infectious diseases » respectivement à Makalé, Quihà et Axum et un Centre d'études des pathologies tropicales a aussi été crée et dés à présent l'association est en mesure de fournir à la classe médicale internationale un ajournement et un database photographique originale des pathologies sur la peau noire.
De plus l'I.I.S.M.A.S collabora avec l'organisation non gouvernementale Shukrodaya Animation Centre in India sur un projet pour promouvoir la santé des personnes les plus pauvres de la ville de Mysore et soutient les activitées de formation sur la santé dans une perspective de confrontation avec la tradition olistique de la médecine indienne.
L'Association, avec l'université de Buenos Aires, a un programme d'échanges de formation pour les médecins qui travaillent dans le domaine de la dermathologie internationale.
L'I.I.S.M.A.S. avec la collaboration de « Proyecto de Expediciones Medicales » au Pérou s'occupe d'un projet de recherche et d'intervention sanitaire pour combattre les pathologies dermathologiques qui affligent les polpulations indigènes de l'Amazonie péruvienne.
L'association est disponible à collaborer avec tous ceux qui voudront contribuer au niveau des idées, des projets et des témoignages.
